With OCLC’s recent announcement of adding FAST (Faceted Application of Subject Terminology) headings to selected WorldCat records, Backstage has also been preparing to make these authorities matchable and returnable for libraries that choose to have this done in their authority control processing. In preparation for the full implementation of RDA, the Library of Congress (LC) has decided to convert the Name Authority File (NAF) to RDA. The conversion will take place in two phases, with an estimated 640,000 authority records being reissued. This means huge changes are coming, and Backstage Library Works will be taking action to accommodate these changes for our authority control clients.
