The Virginia Newspaper Project (VNP) has recently announced an ongoing project to make the Library of Virginia’s Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) newspapers accessible to the public on Virginia Chronicle. The Utah Division of State History has unveiled a new online collection of photographs digitized from the Salt Lake Tribune’s newspaper photo archives. The set includes more than 171,000 images, captured from the original photographic negatives and spanning four decades, from the 1930s through the 1960s. Continue reading
The Council for Library and Information Resources (CLIR) has announced the third year of its competitive grant program for digitizing collections of materials that have a high scholarly research value in libraries and other cultural memory institutions.
Generously funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the program will consider grants ranging from $50,000 to $250,000 for individual projects and up to $500,000 for collaborative, multi-institution projects. Continue reading
