Backstage Library Works Presents
Mark your calendar for May 10, 2017, and join us in Irvine for Hidden Collections: California, a free, one-day seminar for library leaders and special collections professionals. If you work with archival materials, digital images, microfilm, or metadata, this event is for you.
Special collections are kept from public display to protect unique items and fragile materials. But donors, patrons, researchers — and let's not forget librarians and archivists — want these hidden collections to be found, seen, and used.
Discovery, access, and preservation are all important interests for those who manage archival collections.
Rising to the challenge, librarians at leading institutions are tackling digitization, preservation, and metadata creation in creative ways. We've invited a few to discuss their favorite projects and future plans.
The day's lineup will include presentations on digital imaging projects, copyright considerations, and digital asset management tools. We'll have speakers from the University of California, Riverside, the University of Utah, and the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts, roundtable discussions on a variety of special collections topics, and a catered lunch.
We hope you'll join us.
