“In any business, it’s important to understand the human capital. We need to communicate our needs to others as well, so we can learn to understand each other more.
“Backstage is a customer service driven organization. As such, excellent customer service is provided by more than just the Metadata department. It belongs to every team member.
“Mahatma Gandhi said, ‘A customer is the most important visitor on our premises, he is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him. He is doing us a favor by giving us an opportunity to do so.’ ”
Nate Cothran, President of Backstage states:
“I am excited to have Sonny on board with us at Backstage. His academic and special library background gives us better perspective in meeting the metadata needs of our customers.
“Sonny included a quote from Gandhi which is relevant to what we strive for at Backstage—providing exemplary customer service. I look forward to working with Sonny and deepening our relationships with library clients, vendors, publishers, and distributors.”
